At WWDC 2025, Apple unveiled a wave of innovations designed to strengthen its developer ecosystem across all platforms—from iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 to macOS Tahoe 26, watchOS 26, and tvOS 26. The tech giant is doubling down on integrated artificial intelligence, expanded APIs, and a complete redesign of the user experience with the arrival of Liquid Glass.

A New Visual Standard: Liquid Glass

The most eye-catching change is the introduction of Liquid Glass, Apple’s new design language that makes apps on every device more expressive and immersive. The interface brings content to the forefront and unifies the experience across the Apple ecosystem, while offering developers new customization options. The result: more attractive, user-friendly apps that maintain Apple’s signature familiarity.

Foundation Models and Xcode 26: AI at Developers’ Fingertips

Apple is making a bold move into generative AI with the debut of Foundation Models, a framework that lets developers leverage language and AI models directly on device—protecting user privacy. This integration allows for smarter apps, enabling features like text summarization, image generation, and custom assistants, all without relying on the public cloud.

Meanwhile, the new Xcode 26 harnesses models like ChatGPT to accelerate development—suggesting code, fixing bugs, and helping implement best practices. These intelligent tools promise to reduce development time and spark innovation, benefiting both professional teams and independent developers.

An Ever-Expanding API Ecosystem

With more than 250,000 APIs available, Apple is broadening the scope of what’s possible on its platforms. These APIs cover machine learning, augmented reality, spatial computing, health and fitness, and high-performance graphics. Each system update brings new enhancements and possibilities, empowering developers to create more immersive, faster, and optimized experiences.

Privacy and Security as a Foundation

As always, Apple insists that all AI integration across its systems and developer tools is built on privacy. Local data processing and advanced privacy mechanisms ensure users retain control over their personal information—even when using AI-powered apps.

What’s New for Gaming, Age Management, and Communication

Among the new resources are advanced features for gaming (with the Apple Games app, challenges, and multiplayer experiences), as well as a revamped age management and parental control system—making it easier for developers to comply with regulations and keep young users safe in the App Store.

Availability and Requirements

All these new features are available now for registered developers and will roll out to the general public this fall with the release of the new operating systems. Advanced Apple Intelligence features require devices such as iPhone 16, iPhone 15 Pro, iPad mini (A17 Pro), or any iPad and Mac with an M1 chip or newer, and are currently compatible with major European and Asian languages, with additional language support coming later this year.

With this technological leap, Apple reaffirms its leadership in app development, providing the community with more powerful, intelligent, and creative tools than ever—while never losing sight of security and privacy.
